Situated among the lush Mediterranean maquis of Baronia, Budoni, whose population stands at 3.929 inhabitants, is surrounded by hills along the 20 km stretch of coastline, which is a mixture of long, beautiful sandy beaches and charming little rocky coves.
Within its territory there are also some small lagoons with abundant wildlife and where migrating pink flamingos make their seasonal home. Evidence of the Neolithic period comes from the ruins of some nuraghic villages and settlements.
You should visit the archaeological site including the “Agliola” domus de janas. Before coming under the rule of Pisa, Budoni belonged to the Giudicato of Gallura and the administrative district of Posada.
By far the most important economic resource of the town is tourism. In fact, because of the outstanding beauty of its coastline, it becomes a highly popular tourist destination particularly during the summer months.
Budoni offers its visitors modern accommodation with adequate facilities as well as a well-equipped harbour that can accommodate about 450 boats of varying lengths. The town council also makes a number of facilities available for sports and leisure activities. The night-life is vibrant; bars, discos and shows enliven the summer evenings along the coast.
